Black History Month at ATU Library

October is Black History Month: a time to celebrate Black history, arts and culture in Ireland. Our libraries will be joining in the celebrations with displays of books by inspiring Black authors. Come and discover works from Maya Angelou’s classic I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, up to the latest bestsellers like Kiley Reid’s Such a Fun Age.  Or if you prefer eBooks come and explore our large digital collection which covers topics from Black history to culture.

Yeats Library is also exhibiting a selection of paintings from the Kitwe Art Collection. Several years ago, the Sligo Kitwe Cooperation Link donated oil-on-canvas- artworks by Zambian artists in the Kitwe region to the library. This organisation has worked with communities in the Kitwe region of Northern Zambia since 1994 to promote the work of Zambian artists.
