Can I reserve a book?
If the book that you require is currently checked out to another student or staff member, you can place a reservation on it. When the book is returned, it will be held at the Library desk and you will be contacted by email.
What type of item can be reserved?
Any book in print format that is a standard loan and currently checked out can be reserved. Reference material cannot be reserved.
How do I reserve a book?
Log into your Library account (via the Library Catalogue link on the Library website)
- Use the Library Catalogue to search for a book. (If the book is check out, you will be able to place a hold on it. If the book is available, you will be borrow the book from the Library.)
- Click on Place Hold.
- Click on Confirm.
- When the book is available for you to collect, an email will be sent to your student email address.
Can a student from ATU St Angela’s reserve a book from Yeats Library?
If a book is currently available at Yeats Library and unavailable at McKeown Library, please inform library staff that you wish to borrow it. You can talk to library staff at the Issue Desk or by email/chat. Staff will make the reservation on your behalf.
What is a postal loan?
Online Learners can reserve books that are currently available in the library as well as books that are currently checked out by other students and staff. Once the books are available, they are sent with a postal return bag and a pre-paid postage label to the Online Learner. The postal return bag and label can be used by the Online Learner to return the books to the library.
How do I order a Postal Loan?
Log into your library account (via the Library Catalogue link on the Library website)
- Search for the book you want.
- Click place hold button
- Click the confirm button
- When the book is available for you to collect, an email will be sent to your college email address.
- Reply to the library to arrange for the books to be posted to you.
