We like the symbol for the Hold Firm campaign, because a rainbow is always a hopeful image. We hope you know that we are here to help you during these difficult times. We are reachable at firstname.lastname@example.org and on live chat from 10-12 and 2-4 each day. These are the current library services :
Click and Collect/Postal Loans
“Click and collect” is a service where you place a hold on books and then confirm a time to collect them. At the moment our available collection times are in 5 minute slots, Mondays to Fridays, from 9.15 am to 5 pm. Please have your IT Sligo student or staff ID with you to use this service.
Watch the video to find out how it works
We will post your books if you live outside Sligo or are vulnerable and do not want to come in to collect. When you submit a “click and collect” hold request and you get the confirmation “click and collect” email from us there is an option at that stage to ask for a postal loan.
Booked Study Spaces
We have study spaces available from 9-5pm Monday to Friday for you to book on libreserve.itsligo.ie. You can now study for up to 4 hours in the library. We have 3 pcs currently available and IT Services have checked that they are in working order.
You must wear a face mask at all times in the library. You must identify yourself to a library staff member on entry to the library and produce an IT Sligo ID Card. At present there is photocopier/printer service but you need to have existing credit from before. There is no way to top up at present.
How to Check in and out
please check in and out on your phone at libreserve.itsligo.ie
We have hand sanitiser available at the library entrance. Please use it when you enter the library . Please do not just walk into the library. Stop and let us know your business first so we can help direct you.
Library books are quarantined for 72 hours upon return.
The library is cleaned each evening. We have alcohol wipes available near the study spaces and we ask that you clean your space before and after use.
Please wear a mask at all times in the library.
We keep your details for a month so we can do contact tracing if necessary.
Students who are fully registered and to want to get an IT, Sligo ID Card should go to https://libguides.itsligo.ie/idcards where there is a link and instructions to upload their photograph. Once this is done their ID card will be posted to them within one or two weeks.
In Spring we started a new ebook tender which allows us purchase more core texts in electronic format. Since then we have purchased 180 individual ebook titles which can be accessed through EOLAS or Ebook Central (Proquest). While we have increased access they often have single user licences (one user at a time) compared to multi user access allowed in our main ebook package eBook Academic Collection (EBSCOhost). A new comprehensive ebook guide is being prepared..
Staff and students can send queries on license options and availability of ebooks for courses to Sinead Kelly please email@example.com
Business as usual online
You can book referencing and endnote appointments with us and ask for quick or in depth help with database searching. We are online waiting to help you. We are using Adobe connect and Microsoft teams, and your lecturers are booking us in to help you in class. Our online resources are available 24/7 and some staff are available after normal business hours if you make an appointment and you are working during the day (email firstname.lastname@example.org) We are also creating guides and videos and they are available in libguides and Panopto and Microsoft Streams. These services will continue to develop over the coming months.
We look forward to assisting you.
