Eolas (Irish word for knowledge) is the main library search. It searches most of the paid content that you have access to as a registered student or staff member. We have also added some curated open access content. If you have difficulty with Eolas please email the library helpdesk.

On Campus

When you are on campus, the Eolas search will work automatically without requiring a login and let you have full text access.*  Because you are already logged in to a pc,or to Eduroam WIFI you are recognised as a valid student so you get access.

Off campus

off campus the minute you click go to search, or click on the advanced search button you are presented with the screen in figure 1. At this stage you have to login. Your username is your college email address. (example : s00123456@mail.itsligo.ie)

Who can use these services?

Only registered IT Sligo staff and students with active accounts can access these services. If you are a repeat only student you are not automatically given access, but let us know and we can advise.

Where can I access these services?

From any college computer or from home.

error at work, internet cafe or from workplace device?

Your workplace has security rules in place on your work internet or on your workplace device.  You will need to ask your workplace IT Staff to resolve the issue or use . They might adjust their firewall rules to allow you access the databases. Tell them to that port number 2048 TCP needs to be opened on their firewall. If in doubt you can contact the library and we can check if a resource is working normally for other off campus users.
Some places, that offer free wireless internet access or internet cafes might block certain ports needed also.

Q. I get an “inter-institutional access failure” error after I try to log in to the past exam papers

A. This timeout error happens occasionally. If you go back to the page with the link you started from before you entered your login details, and click on that link again, you should straight through to the resource you were trying to access. If all else fails delete your cookies.
