We use a secure system for this profile so your information is safe. You log into your profile using your library password, and from your profile you can renew books ,set up search alerts, see what rooms you have booked and more....

ID Cards

Your student ID Card (it is also your library card) will be posted to you once we recieve your photo. The full instructions for uploading your photo are available in this guide. Once you let Geraldine know that your photo has been uploaded, your ID Card will be posted out to you. Your ID Card does not need to be updated yearly. It will last for the duration of your course.

Postal Loan Book Service

In order to provide Online Learners who live outside Sligo with access to the print books, we have developed a postal loan system.  Please search Summon. Online Learners will normally borrow books from the Main Collection. The loan period for books in the Main Collection is three weeks and the loan can be renewed for a further three weeks online or by phone. If you see a book you require, e-mail

Geraldine Fahey with details of the book and your postal address . When available, the book will be checked out on your user account and posted to you.  The due date wil be printed on a receipt and placed in the book. It is your responsibility to post it back to the library.  You may renew the loan by phone or from your Patron Record .  Please note that if a book you require is already on loan to another library user, there may be a delay in your receiving it.

When returning book postal loans the address is:

Geraldine Fahey,
Yeats Library,
Institute of Technology, Sligo,
Ash Lane, Sligo

In addition to journal articles, a number of the databases listed on the Library web site contain copies of standards, reports and other publications. The Ebrary e-books database includes full text of over 80,000 books for example.

Interlending & Document Supply

On occasion, a book or journal article you require will not available from the stock of The Yeats Library.  In this case you may need to request the item from another library.  This is done through the Interlending & Document Supply service. When your book arrives at the Yeats Library it will be posted out to you. Please see the Interlending and Document Supply page for more details.

Use of Other Libraries

Institute's of Technology Libraries

On request, we can supply you with a Partners Card.  This will allow you to use any of the other institute of technology libraries around the country.

University Libraries

We can provide you with a letter of introduction which will allow you to use libraries of universities for reference purposes.  You should always check in advance if the library you wish to use is open when you intend to visit and if they are allowing external users on that day.

You can access the main moodle page here:
