With some databases you have to use the advanced search and tick any box that limits your search for peer reviewed scholarly journal articles.
A Peer reviewed article is one which has been scrutinised and evaluated by other academics to ensure that it is of a high enough quality to be published
Directory of Open Access Journals
Full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals. There are 5215 journals in the directory. Currently 2166 journals are searchable at article level.
ERIC ( Education Resources Information Center )
ERIC is an educational database of abstracts and full text journals.

Research database focusing on the relationship between human beings and the environment, with well-researched but accessible information on topics ranging from global warming to recycling to alternate fuel sources and beyond. Comprised of scholarly and general interest titles, as well as government documents and reports.
